It was 2020 and the world was not our “normal” anymore.  We ended up canceling about 6 getaway/vacations due to the Pandemic. Everything kept changing in the states around us.  We kept thinking of different places to go to get out of the house, the best we could come up with that might not get canceled was to go camping. With the kids working full-time and not able to go with us and that we lost our beloved fur baby Maisie Mae it was going to be a different vacation. ALL BY OURSELVES!!!

We kept talking about which area and then it was “oh let’s go to Yellowstone.”  We had always wanted to go camping there but I was afraid to bring Maisie with us because of wild animals and she wasn’t able to go on any trails/walking paths in the park.

I started looking for different campgrounds, found one in West Yellowstone, outside of the park, that we booked.  I started looking for different campgrounds, found one in West Yellowstone, outside of the park, that we booked.  Someone said why not look inside the park, I figured they would be all booked since we were looking to leave in about a month.  I decided to look and what did I find?  Yes campsites in Yellowstone National Park.  We chose to go with Grant Campground since it was on the south side of the park. I booked about 5 nights at that spot and planned our itinerary.

Finally the day had arrived where we could pack up the vehicle and leave.  We arrived at Grant Campground and started setting up our site.  Once it was set up we went for a bike ride to check out the campground.  We found the laundry facilities were open, showers were closed, restaurants were closed, but the general store was open.  This was our first time camping in the park and it felt like the campground was half empty the entire time we were there, which was great for us.
